Waynesburg Republican Obituaries, 1859-1933
 

This CD is expected to be the first in a series of CD's containing images of obituaries found in the Cornerstone Genealogical Society's microfilmed newspaper collection. It includes images of over 17,000 death notices, obituaries, memorial notices and other articles relating to the deaths of Greene County area individuals found in the pages of the issues of the Waynesburg Republican from 1859 to 1933 on microfilm at the library.
 

The images were taken from the microfilm reader while compiling the Society's obituary index, and since they were not originally taken with the aim of publication, their quality varies. While most are completely readable, some may be quite difficult to read or partially illegible due to the condition of the microfilmed newspaper, the quality of the microfilmed image or the quality of the digital image taken from the microfilm reader.
 

The obituaries are arranged by the issue date of the paper in which they were found, and an alphabetical name index is included on the CD.
 

Expected in 2009 is the next CD of this series containing obituaries from the Democrat Messenger.
